As the countdown continues in Hornsea towards the opening of the brand new Hornsea Hub on Monday, 26 October, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has released a walkthrough video showing the stunning new facilities.
The video can be viewed now on the East Riding Leisure You Tube channel at: https://youtu.be/1OTT1tiahoI
It can also be viewed on www.eastridingleisure.co.uk/hornsea
The £9.9m Hornsea Hub project includes a complete refurbishment and extension of the original leisure centre with new facilities including an extended Tone Zone on the first floor overlooking the promenade; a new extended café area; new changing rooms; two refurbished squash courts; and a dedicated Spin and Exercise Studio. The pool area and changing rooms have been extensively refurbished.
The redevelopment also sees the town's library, customer service centre and resource centre relocating to the new facility, as well as the Children's Centre.
With its stunning two-storey extension and high-quality landscaping, the new centre for leisure and learning will provide a major new focal point for the central promenade. Part-funded from the £3.77m Coastal Communities Fund awarded to Hornsea, the project is part of a wider regeneration programme for the sea front. With a dedicated education room and stunning sea views from the outdoor seating area, the development is designed to attract more visitors to Hornsea, as well as catering for residents.
Councillor Richard Burton, leader of the council, said: "The new Hornsea Hub represents the largest single investment this council has ever made in the town. I am delighted that we are now very nearly ready to open this transformational project, and this new walkthrough video really whets the appetite for what the Hornsea Hub will bring to the town."
All the facilities in the Hornsea Hub are scheduled to open on Monday, 26 October.
After the reopening, most services in the Hornsea Hub will need to be pre booked, in common with other council sites, and will operate with reduced capacity and a clearly marked one way system. Unfortunately, because of these restrictions, casual visitors wanting to tour the facilities will not be able to do so at this time.
