East Riding of Yorkshire Council recruitment campaign encourages people to be IN on a new way of working

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has launched a new recruitment campaign to encourage people to consider a career at the council.

The 'IN' campaign asks people to look beyond stereotypical views of what working for a council is like and look at the council as a modern employer with a diverse workforce in modern work places.

There are numerous benefits of working for the largest employer in the East Riding and the campaign aims to highlight the many reasons to join the council.

The new campaign aims to:

  • attract people to apply for jobs at the council now
  • inform potential candidates about the wide range of career opportunities, flexible working and other great reasons to join the council's workforce
  • inspire people to earn-while-they-learn and develop their career with the council
  • showcase how working at the council means that people can help shape their community and make a real difference to people's lives.

The campaign recently launched with a new website and own social media channels - on LinkedIn and on Facebook and Twitter (using @eastridingjobs) - and through digital advertising, local and online radio station advertising and on bus rears across the county. The council also won an award for their stand at the Skills Humber event at the Bonus Arena, Hull last week using the new campaign branding.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has over 12,500 employees and 600 different job roles with opportunities at every level.

The East Riding has a successful and growing local economy, which in turn will generate more council career opportunities - especially in the digital, construction and adult health and social care sectors.

The council is passionate about its people, professional development and flexible working scheme and uses real staff as ambassadors in the campaign to showcase the many benefits of working for the local authority.

Councillor Richard Burton, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "There is more to working at the council than you may think and the new campaign aims to highlight the many benefits of working for the East Riding's largest employer.

"Working at the council not only offers hundreds of career opportunities but also provides great opportunities to develop your career, earn-while-you-learn as well as a wide range of flexible working arrangements and other benefits.

"Working for the council can also give you immense job satisfaction, as you are making a real difference to the lives of people in your local community every day you are at work - that sense of accomplishment can be quite difficult to find in other professions.

"As well as highlighting the many different career roles at the council, the campaign also looks to dispel people's perceptions of working in local government."
