YORSwitch collective energy switching scheme open for registrations

East Riding residents looking to save money on their energy bills are again invited to sign up for the latest round of YORSwitch before the deadline in March.

Since the scheme started in 2013, YORSwitch has switched more than 30,000 households and delivered more than £6.3million savings for East Riding residents. In the latest auction alone, more than 5,000 East Riding households have so far registered to get a better deal with YORSwitch.

In partnership with iChoosr, the UK's leading expert in collective energy switching, bespoke and highly competitive tariffs are able to be delivered.

The winning supplier of the auction in this round - Octopus Energy, Together Energy and E.ON - will supply a range of tariffs to residents which are not available directly from the suppliers or through price comparison services.

Councillor Chris Matthews, portfolio holder for strategic management at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "YORSwitch continues to make a real impact in helping residents save on their energy bills, and in this latest round of auctions we are delighted that we have achieved a green result with 100% renewable electricity, in all categories, on offer.

"We encourage residents to get registering before this round's deadline and get the best out of this scheme by accepting personal offers - and the council will do all the rest to ensure you keep saving."

This current round of YORSwitch will be available until midnight on Tuesday, 24 March 2020.

How YORSwitch works:

  • Register for free to express interest online at eastriding.gov.uk/yorswitch or by telephone on (01482) 393939.
  • An auction takes place between energy suppliers. The winning supplier is the one making the lowest offer. YORSwitch is not affiliated to any supplier.
  • Support sessions will take place in March 2020 if residents need any additional support.
  • Personal offers will be sent out from Monday, 2 March 2020 based on the information provided.
  • Registration is free and residents are under no obligation to switch.
  • If happy with the offer, residents have until midnight on Tuesday, 24 March 2020 to return your personal offer or let the council know so we can switch you.
  • East Riding of Yorkshire Council takes care of the entire switch for residents, making the whole thing as smooth and hassle-free as possible.

Registering is straightforward - just visit www.eastriding.gov.uk/yorswitch or call (01482) 393939 or, if residents do not have access to the internet, visit any local East Riding of Yorkshire Council customer service centre to register. It is advised that residents have a latest energy bill to hand when registering.

If residents need to visit one of the council's customer service centres, please do so before Friday, 13 March 2020 to allow time for registration to be made.
