More road closures next week as work continues in Kingsgate/George Street, Bridlington

Tue, 11 Feb 2020

Carriageway and footway improvements works are progressing well along the A1038, Kingsgate, in Bridlington, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council is reminding road users and local residents of further forthcoming road closures which form part of the scheme.

The carriageway between 41 and 19 Kingsgate will be reconstructed during week commencing Monday, 17 February for five days as part of the ongoing works to improve Kingsgate.

This will require the total closure of Kingsgate and George Street from 9am until 5pm each day, to ensure the safety of the public and the workforce.

Dave Waudby, head of infrastructure and facilities, said: "The council would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience the closures may cause and ask for the patience of motorists, road users and residents."

The scheme on Kingsgate consists of the reconstruction of the existing footway and carriageway, with a new carriageway surfacing being applied which generates extremely low surface noise levels whilst providing high levels of grip. New footway edgings and channels will also be installed to improve the carriageway drainage.

The work is being carried out by Tarmac Trading Ltd on behalf of the council with funding secured from the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership's Local Growth Fund. This funding was secured following the submission of a successful bid by the council.
