Cover The Coast all set to explore again in 2020!

Mon, 27 Jan 2020

Cover the Coast, the popular programme of walks and outdoor coastal activities for adults, organised as part of Active Coast, will once again explore the East Yorkshire coastline in 2020.

This year’s programme begins on Friday, 14 February with a Humber Bridge Walk. Starting at 10am from the bottom car park in the Humber Bridge Country Park, this will be a circular walk offering a return crossing along the bridge, taking in the stunning views of Hull and the Humber Foreshore. There will also be a wander around the Waters’ Edge Country Park.

Sam Griffiths, CITiZAN Discovery Programme Officer for Humberside, said: “This event has been organised with support from Cover the Coast’s partners CITiZAN, to help discover and find out more about archaeological sites in the area.”

Councillor Shaun Horton, portfolio holder for tourism, culture and leisure, added: “These Active Coast sessions take place in some of the most spectacular areas on our coastline and offer fun activities to enjoy. What a great way to start this year’s programme, with a bracing walk across the iconic Humber Bridge!”

Following the Humber Bridge walk, the next two Cover the Coast events will be the Hornsea Past and Present walk on Friday, 6 March and the Paull/Hedon Circular walk on Friday, 3 April. Both events will start at 10am.

The full programme for 2020 includes highlights such as a Flamborough Lighthouse visit and Headland walk, a two part Headlands Way hike, Spoon Carving, Friction Fire Lighting and much more. Visit Active Coast to find out more or follow on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The Humber Bridge walk is a free event, as are many of the Cover the Coast events, and places can be booked online via www.activecoast.org , direct at https://www.bridspa.com/events/?entry=spx_255803 , or by calling 01482 395320 during office hours.
