Views sought on proposals for new multi-storey car park in Bridlington

People in Bridlington are being asked to give their views on plans for a new multi-storey car proposed for the town.

Brid Multi-Storey Car Park

The proposals will see East Riding of Yorkshire Council redevelop the existing car park space on Beck Hill and Hilderthorpe Road with a three-level building which will provide modern, secure and well-lit parking facilities in a convenient location to serve the town centre.

The car park will be accessed from Beck Hill with the exit on Hilderthorpe Road and will provide 431 parking spaces, with 25 dedicated accessible spaces, eight motorcycle bays as well as a number of electric vehicle charging points.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the public consultation is being carried out online and anyone who wishes to comment on the proposals should go to the dedicated project website – www.beckhillmscpconsultation.co.uk

Residents who may have questions about the proposals can also call the consultation team directly on 0800 061 2281.

Following the consultation process, a full planning application will be submitted where residents can also comment on the proposals.

Councillor Chris Matthews, portfolio holder for strategic property and infrastructure at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The proposed new car park at Beck Hill will support our on-going plans for regeneration and growth of Bridlington town centre by providing modern and well-lit parking in a convenient location.

“The proposals will help increase footfall in the town centre while reducing highways congestion currently caused as cars circle the area looking for spaces.

“Before we submit a planning application, we’re keen to hear what the people of Bridlington think of the proposals and this public online consultation will give everyone to review our plans.”

Anyone wishing to comment on the proposals should do so before Sunday, 14 February.
