How and when to order project boxes, when and where will they be delivered, what if the box doesn't arrive, when are project boxes collected, ordering fiction boxes, what happens when they are exchanged, what if a book is missing when the box is returned, will you be charged for missing books and what if a book is damaged.

How and when do I order books?

Just before half term your school will receive an email with an integrated request form for the following term. The return date is given on the form.

One form is completed for each class. Where two teachers share a class, both names are given in the teacher's name box.

For projects, teachers may choose to select a general topic from a designated list and/or provide more detailed information in the space provided

Using the same form, teachers can request a fiction box which will be suitable for the reading level of their class

Completed forms are emailed back to the address on the the form.

When and where are project boxes delivered?

We aim to deliver to the School Office within the first five working days of each term.

What if my box doesn't arrive?

Check in school that your request was emailed to the Schools Library Service. If there has been an error, contact the Schools Library Service to see if it can be rectified.

When are the project boxes collected?

We aim to collect from the School Office within the last two weeks of term. The date of collection is given on the top of every box.

What happens when the fiction boxes are exchanged?

Each teacher collects in the Schools Library Service books from their pupils so that the current fiction box is completed by the date given on the top of the box. The boxes are returned to the school office.

In a single trip the Schools Library Service collects one fiction collection and delivers the next.

What if a book is missing when I return the box?

We ask you to keep looking for the book and return it to us by the schools' courier when it is found. Our library management system detects when a book is not returned and assigns it to the teacher responsible.

Will I be charged for lost or missing books?

Normally, there is no charge for a missing book whilst the school subscribes to the Schools Library Service, as most books are found within a short space of time. Where the number of missing books exceeds a reasonable amount the Schools Library Service will contact the school to discuss what steps can be taken to improve the situation.

If a school decides to leave the service, a nominal charge will be incurred for any unreturned books.

What if a book is damaged?

Any damages should be reported to the Schools Library Service and if possible the cost should be recovered from the individual concerned. When the Schools Library Service is informed by a school that money for a missing book has been received, a sundry debtor invoice will be issued to the school to recover the amount.
