What help is available to get a job, who can access the service, where to contact the service and how to contact.

I'm looking for a job, what help is available?

Our employment education and skills team can offer all sorts of advice and support to help you get back into work. Whether you're 18 or 58, our team work closely with local employers to match your skills and experience to jobs available. On most of our programmes, you'll come along to an initial meeting with us so that you can get the help that you need. 

Depending on your circumstances you might be eligible for one or some of the programmes that we deliver. Please see below.

Who can access this service?

There are different eligibility criteria for each of our externally funded programmes. Please follow the links above to see what is available to you. Depending on your circumstances we may be able to signpost you to other help that is available in the East Riding.  

Where can I access this service?

The employment education and skills team operate out of Adult Learning Centres in the East Riding, as well as local libraries, customer service centres and community venues. Please call and we can arrange a meeting at the most convenient location for you. 

What is Brid Works and how can it help me?

Personalised support for people aged 19 and over living in the Bridlington area to overcome barriers to getting employment, education or training.

We deliver from various venues in the Bridlington area to suit the individual participants’ needs. We have a permanent base at the Adult Learning Centre, King Street, Bridlington (above the central library).

Participants commence by working with a personal adviser (PA) to develop a personalised plan of action. 

Activities on programme include:

  • Weekly 1:1 support 
  • Improve confidence, self-esteem, mental resilience, greater inclusion and healthy lifestyles workshop
  • Personal budgeting
  • Employability workshops 
  • Local employer-led mock interviews 
  • Business project  
  • Budget to help with remove personal barriers
  • Facilitating work placements/experience, volunteering
  • Peer support  
  • Identifying gaps in basic skills.  

Cost, duration and who is eligible?

Brid Works is completely free, but not time-limited to 15 weeks like the ALPS programme. Participants can have support on this programme beyond 15 weeks - as much as they need. 

Initially, this programme was intended for those out of work for more than 2 years, but that has now changed and anyone seeking work will now qualify.

What is Achieve With Lone Parent Support (ALPS) and how can it help me?

Personalised support for lone parents living in the East Riding area to overcome barriers to getting employment, education or training.

The programme will be for a duration of 15 weeks with 8/10 participants on each cohort, followed by ongoing in-work support, where it is deemed necessary

Where does the programme take place? 

Beverley, Goole, Withernsea and Cottingham areas.

The programme will include the following:

  • Support by a personal adviser
  • 1:1 support
  • Group work
  • ‘Better off calculation’ so they can understand the financial benefits of working
  • Mental toughness/confidence building project
  • Employability and bespoke workshops
  • Transferable skills
  • Drafting/improving targeted CVs
  • Weekly job club
  • Work experience. 

Cost and duration

The programmes are completely free and last for 15 weeks.
