Car and coach parks

COVID-19 Service Information

All council-run car parks in the East Riding are operating as normal, with regular charges in place.

However, NHS and critical care staff, as well as NHS COVID-19 volunteers, can still benefit from free parking while they are on duty as long as they display their COVID-19 parking permit. This is a nationally-recognised scheme.

These permits can only be issued by your own employer.

Further details can be found on the GOV.UK website:

Parking enforcement will continue in all areas.

You can park your motorcycle in specific motorcycle bays for free. If you park in a normal vehicle bay charges and time restrictions apply. The following car parks have motorcycle bays:

Can I buy or renew a season ticket (permit) for long stay car parks?

Yes. We offer a limited number of season tickets that can be used in our long stay car parks:

  • These can last for one, six or 12 months and are often used by people who need to park near to where they work.
  • Two vehicles can be registered to the season ticket but it can only be used by one vehicle at a time.
  • Motorcyclists can buy a season ticket if they wish to be able to park in a normal vehicle bay.

Please note: having a season ticket does not guarantee that you will have a parking space and does not give an exemption to any other parking restriction. Please refer to car park signage for any restrictions, such as length of stay.

Is parking free for blue badge holders?

Blue badge holders may park in on-street car parks without paying and displaying.

We charge for off street parking because we consider that disability is not necessarily related to the ability to pay. We provide dedicated bays to provide access to nearby facilities. Each council decides its own policy on charging blue badge holders.

Which council car parks have disabled spaces?

Do you offer secure car parks?

Yes. Some of our car parks meet the standards of the police's Safer Parking Scheme and have been awarded the Park Mark. This scheme is designed to reduce crime and the fear of crime in car parks.

Can I park for free around Christmas?

For the tenth year, council car parks will be free on December weekends before Christmas to help support local businesses.

Pay and display machines in these locations will be clearly marked to let shoppers know there is no charge for the weekends of:

  • 21/22 November 2020
  • 28/29 November 2020
  • 5/6 December 2020
  • 12/13  December 2020
  • 19/20 December 2020.

from 8am on Saturday until 8am on Monday.

Please note: parking in council-owned car parks and on-street areas is free on Sundays in Bridlington, Flamborough and Hornsea up to and including 21 March 2021.

Whilst parking charges are suspended, motorists are advised that normal parking rules still apply, such as those around disabled parking bays, maximum stays and controlled parking zones (CPZ).

The Government's COVID-19 pandemic restrictions will apply during those dates.
