AWS is the Army's professional welfare provider. It delivers a comprehensive and confidential welfare service responsive to the needs of individuals, families and the Chain of Command in order to maximise the operation effectiveness of service personnel. This includes personal support such as:
It also provides community support which includes learning and personal development opportunities for military personnel and their families wherever they are living. It offers non-formal education opportunities to children and young people including activities during school holidays and offsite residential experiences.

This club meets every Monday 10am-12pm (Richie's Café, South Promenade) and every Thursday 10am-12pm (Victoria Mill Tea Rooms). It is open to veterans, serving members and their families, and dogs are welcome at both venues. There are no fees - just buy your own drinks and food.

The Ministry of Defence sponsors and supports four cadet forces. These voluntary youth organisations offer challenging and enjoyable activities for young people, and prepare them to play an active part in the community while developing valuable life skills.

MASH: The Next Generation, Bridlington is a group aimed at young or young at heart veterans, including those with children. The group allows them to meet other local veterans and their families and show how they can gain access to a support network of local partners and most importantly support from each other whilst accessing subsidised, enjoyable fun activities and events. Men's Sheds are similar to garden sheds - a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending. The difference is that garden sheds and their activities are often solitary in nature while Men's Sheds are the opposite.
They're about social connections and friendship building, sharing skills and knowledge, and of course a lot of laughter.

The Royal Air Forces Association branches provide a great opportunity for members to meet socially on a monthly basis, as well as providing welfare assistance and helping to rally local fundraising support. There are local branches in Bridlington and Hull.

This association of ex and serving submariners seeks to maintain the special bonds of friendship, loyalty and comradeship.

This association fosters comradeship and the general welfare of the regiment. It also makes recommendations to the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolence Committee, in order to provide relief, for members of the association, and to past and present members of the regiment and their dependents, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.

This club, run by veterans for veterans of the Armed Forces and emergency services has informal workshops to help you develop your skills in making models from kits or 'scratch-built' from plastic, card or wood. It doesn't matter if you've never modelled before or are a modeller. Any veteran is welcome and there is no need to book.
Children and young people can take part in a range of youth club sessions at the Defence School of Transport, Leconfield. The Army Welfare Service runs school holiday programmes, residentials and a monthly forest school.

The Community Safety Volunteer scheme is run by Humberside Police in partnership with Humberside Fire and Rescue Service. Volunteers can get involved in a wide range of tasks in their local community.

Special Constables are members of the public who volunteer their time in order to support their regular colleagues and provide a valuable link between the police and the local community. They are warranted officers who have the same powers as a regular officer, wear the same uniform and carry the same equipment.

Age UK Hull provide a telephone befriending service, which aims to reduce loneliness for people aged 50 or over, by providing a regular telephone call at a time which is convenient to the person.
The call allows the person to enjoy general conversation on subjects that interest them.

Social prescribing is about linking residents with local community groups and services that offer support and advice to them, improving self-care and tackling the social causes of ill health and wellbeing.
Link workers are based in all East Riding GPs and offer social prescribing to local residents. They can support you to get involved in social activities, making new friends, and tell you about exercise classes available to help improve your mental and physical wellbeing.

SSAFA provides lifelong support to both regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service.
SSAFA helps the Armed Forces community in a number of ways, though its focus is on providing direct support to individuals in need of physical or emotional care, including those struggling with social isolation.

The Royal British Legion supports members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their families. Their support starts after one day of service and continues through life. The Legion provides a wide range of advice and support including for those struggling with social isolation.

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. There are many ways for people, communities and organisations to show their support and get involved.
The national Armed Forces Day takes place each year on the last Saturday in June. In 2021, it will take place on 26 June. Armed Forces Day celebrations begin in the week leading up to this date, when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country.

Each year we remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community, both individually and by joining others at Remembrance commemorations.
Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the reserve forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military.
The reserve forces make up approximately one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel and as such are integral to protecting the nation's security at home and overseas. The annual Reserves Day was created to highlight and recognise the valuable contribution reservists make to our Armed Forces.
