Availability of council services on Monday, 19 September

A bank holiday for the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has been announced for Monday, 19 September 2022. This notice sets out a number of changes to the council's operational arrangements on the bank holiday and over the mourning period.

Bridlington Land Train

Operating a light service on Monday, 19 September 2022.

Bridlington Spa

The Spa is closed all day on Monday, 19 September 2022 except for a private wedding. 

The café is also closed.

Business Centres

All buildings and offices will remain open, but receptions and cafés will be closed on Monday, 19 September 2022.

Children's Centres

All Chilrdren's Centres will be closed all day on Monday 19, September 2022.

Coast and Countryside

Access to all coast and countryside areas, open all day on Monday 19, September 2022.

Any planned events will be cancelled.

Household Waste Recycling Sites (HWRS)

All sites will be closed all day on Monday, 19 September 2022.

Park and Ride

The Park and Ride is operating as usual all day on Monday, 19 September 2022 to allow people to visit the coast for reflection.

Public Toilets

Open as usual all day on Monday, 19 September 2022.

Registration and Celebratory Services

Services are affected as follows on Monday, 19 September 2022:

  • Registration offices - open only for planned weddings. Offices are closed for registrations and other enquiries.
  • Civil partnerships -  can go ahead at approved venues.

Sewerby Hall and Gardens

Café, house and zoo are closed all day on Monday 19, September 2022. Gardens are open.

South Cliff Holiday Park, Bridlington

Open all day on Monday, 19 September 2022.

Waste Collections

Blue bin collections

There will be no blue bin collections on Monday, 19 September. Collections will return to normal on Tuesday, 20 September.

Those with a Monday collection, please hold on to your blue bin waste until your next scheduled blue bin collection on Monday, 3 October.

Any extra recycling waste can be placed in clear plastic bags and placed next to your blue bin for collection.

Please note: Use bags that are clear enough to allow crews to check all contents are recyclable and not general waste. White or clear pedal liners or clear carrier bags can be used. Any bags which aren’t clear, such as black bin bags, won’t be collected.

Brown bin collections

There will be no brown bin collections on Monday, 19 September. Collections will return to normal on Tuesday, 20 September.

Those with a Monday collection, please hold on to your brown bin waste until your next scheduled brown bin collection on Monday, 3 October.

Please note: You can take any extra waste that doesn't fit in your brown bin to your nearest household waste recycling site. It will not be collected if left in bags next to your bin.

Green bin collections

No green bin collections were scheduled for the week commencing Monday, 19 September.

Other council services

Access to other council services will be affected on Monday, 19 September 2022, as follows:

  • Housing repairs - closed, except for emergencies.

  • Pest control bookings - these have already been cancelled with customers directly.

  • Highways - emergency issues only.

  • Planning and building control - closed, except for emergency building control issues.
